• Commuting allowance
  The actual commuting cost is provided, and is calculated based on the most reasonable and least costly route up to 55,000yen per month. This is only applicable if the distance from your place of residence to RIKEN is 2km or more.
  
  

• Housing allowance
  An allowance is provided to employees living off campus in non-owned/rented housing. Half of the monthly rent up to a maximum of 40,000 yen for a single unit, and 60,000 yen for a family unit. To be eligible your name must be on the lease as a renter. If you share with friends or fiancé/fiancée, it must be a joint contract.

Note: Both allowances (commuting and housing) are calculated and paid based on the existing situation on the 1st of each month.
